Every Hiild piece is made by hand using a combination of natural fibres, and multiple strands of yarn knitted together. Please take care as pulls may occur if one or more strands get snagged on something. This can be worked back into shape with a bit of care and gentle manipulation, but please reach out for assistance if you need it.
Due to the natural fibres and each piece being hand made, there may the odd "imperfection", I like to look to this as part of your unique knits character and part of the story of its creation.
Over time and with wear, Wool and Alpaca can start to pill. This is a natural part of the process as the finer short fibres raise to the surface, and can be easily remedied with a fabric shaver. Please do not use scissors in case you accidentally snip the yarn!
Brushed alpaca used in some garments also has the tendency to malt, only a little. A lint roller is best to remove any loose fibres.
Hiild knits are created to stand the test of time, I want them to be your childs most loved garments and they are made to be worn. Which - being a mum - I know our children's clothes will inevitably get dirty and need to be washed more frequently. Where possible try to spot clean, and air the knit out. When it comes time to wash, please hand wash in cool water only. Gently reshape your knit and lay it flat to dry out of direct sunlight. Never tumble dry, and never soak your knits - this does not end well. It is also best to store your knit folded rather than hanging so that it does not stretch out of shape.
I'm always here if you have any questions about the care of your knits. Please email info@hiild.co.nz with any questions.
