Meet Ally: the hands behind Hiild
Thank you for stopping by and browsing my website, and for wanting to learn more about Hiild. I'm Ally, the sole creator behind this brand. I design and make each piece by hand from my home on the South Island of New Zealand.
Prior to becoming a mum in 2020 (my absolute favourite job!), I worked as a fashion designer in Sydney for over a decade. I was fortunate to work with and be mentored by some of Australia's best designers.
Hiild is an opportunity for me to combine many of the things that I love: slow fashion, design, and knitwear. It also allows me to create products while still being home with my daughters.
Luxury in every fibre, unique in every stitch
Every fibre used to create Hiild garments is a luxury natural fibre: merino, alpaca, mohair, silk, and cotton. Absolutely no nylon, polyester, or acrylic. My commitment to natural materials ensures unparalleled softness and durability.
Each piece is one of a kind. I do not use a pattern when I create each garment; they flow effortlessly off my needles. I use measurements as a guide, allowing each piece to form in an organic way, resulting in a truly unique creation.
Each piece is carefully washed and dried after knitting to add extra softness. I also work with local yarn dyers to bring unique shades, textures, and details to every piece, ensuring an exclusive feel.
